MAKING PLANS NOT RESOLUTIONS



It's that time of year again beautiful people. That time where all over social media you see

everyone writing new year new me or it's a new year time to set your new year's resolutions.

Every year people say the same things over and over again. What is a new year's resolution you

ask? A New Year's resolution is an American tradition. This tradition supposed to represent

change in an undesired trait or behavior, accomplish a personal goal, or otherwise improve a

person's life at the start of a new year. Majority of the time people don't actually stick to their

resolutions. The number one reason people don't keep their New Year's resolutions is because

there is Lack of planning. Why is planning better than resolutions. Resolutions are statements of

intention with lack of motivation, while plans are statements of commitment. Planning can be

described in many ways such as a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something, an

intention or decision about what one is going to do or design or make a plan of (something you

want to achieve). In simple terms a plan is thinking about something you want to achieve.

writing it down, making a strategy to get it done and most importantly doing it. You may be

thinking Why is having a plan so important well plans help us achieve our goals, and allows for

more efficient use of time. Planning means analyzing and taking time to achieve the things we

want to do, as well as the way in which we will achieve them. It is a method of action to decide

what we are going to do and why. Planning can Improve productivity. Planning prevents you

from wasting your energy on unnecessary tasks. Planning can help increase focus. Planning

helps you focus on the task at hand—you know what you need to do today, and why. This helps

you feel more in control, by showing you what you can change and what is outside your control.

Planning helps Greater self-confidence. If your goals have always been just beyond your grasp, it

may be because you’ve never created an effective plan for reaching them. Once you have a plan

in place, you’ll be surprised by how much you’re able to accomplish. Planning can also Greater

self-awareness. To create a plan is to begin to understand yourself. It helps uncover your

passions and priorities, and whether they reflect your true values. You come to learn about your

personal tendencies, inclinations, and aversions—and how to overcome them! Know the main

thing in planning is knowing how to start. Starting a plan can be very intimidating.

Here are some steps that can help you start your planning process.

1. Make Sure Your Goals Are SMART.

2.Work Backwards to Set Milestones.

3. Determine What Needs to Happen to Reach Your Goals.

4 .Decide What Actions Are Required to Reach Your Goals.

5. Put Your Actions

into a Schedule.
