Self discipline is the number one trait needed to accomplish goals, lead a healthy lifestyle, and ultimately, be happy. Self discipline is a learned behavior. It requires practice and repetition in your day-to-day life. Self discipline gives you the power to stick to your decisions and follow them through, without changing your mind, and is therefore one of the important requirements for achieving goals. This ability leads to to self confidence, self esteem and inner strength, and consequently to happiness and satisfaction.
The bible tells us that Discipline comes from vision. A man or woman without a vision for their life, lives a very loose life. Disciplined people live narrowly. Vision simplifies life. Your vision defines what you do in life. It shows you your destination. Your destiny dictates your decisions. If someone offers you something and it does not collaborate with your vision it becomes easy to say No. You were not born to do everything. When you study successful and influential people they were very simple people. "This one thing I do".
People who discover their vision live longer lives. Stress comes when we don't know what to do with our lives. Your Vision is from God. Without that revelation there can be no self discipline.
How do we strengthen our Self Discipline? By strengthening the following we can increase our self discipline.
Self Control-the ability to control oneself, in particular one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations.
Motivation-the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.
Persistence-firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
Goals- the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.
Pay close attention to the things you do, watch and how you spend your time. A person with a vision and purpose will be very selective in their choices. They will be selective in what and whom they spend their time. Your vision will choose the following things for you:
Future
Friends
Library
Use of time
Use of Energy
Movies that you watch
Priorities in life
Hobbies, things that you do, games that you play are related to your vision.
Diet
How do you invest your money.
