Setoria the Vocalist

Setoria - Singer, Songwriter and Model fell in love with the way music made her feel at the tender age of 6. Born in Florida, Setoria began singing in church and school choirs and also explored the art of theater as she participated in many musical plays. With the attempts to master other instruments such as various percussion, keyboard and the flute, she soon discovered that a pen, pad and microphone were the only tools needed to make her statement.


Raised in the Washington DC area, Setoria continues to make her mark by regularly performing with various bands along the east coast executing energetic and soulful tunes. Her first single, Shorty, released in May of 2014, hit the ground running with international recognition and is also on the soundtrack of the award-winning independent film, Love Him or Leave Him. The movie was awarded Best Original Score at the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards in May 2016.


Setoria, also known as R&B's SASSIEST Sensation, has shared the stage with notable mainstream artists such as Christopher Williams, R&B Group INTRO as well as the legendary Sugar Bear of E.U. She has also worked with well-respected music makers such as Grammy Award winning engineer - Michael Makowski (Amy Winehouse, Usher, Maxwell and others) as well as Multi-Platinum and Grammy Nominated producer - Herb Middleton (Kelly Price, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige, Phyllis Hyman and many more). Setoria has encountered other amazing opportunities such as her performance at Langley Air Force Base for the U.S. Troops and the DC Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series. She has been recognized in numerous publications such as blogs and magazines: Smooches Magazine, Skii Magazine , UK based Soul Central Magazine as well as Germany based Country Fair Play Magazine. You can find a snippit of Setoria's life story in the newly released book - The Artist Collection: Every Artist has a story. The book is being sold on the internet and in book stores nationwide.


Alongside the music, Setoria is a curvy model and brand ambassador for the Smooches Woman Movement. She has become an inspiration to women of all walks of life as she openly celebrate her bossy-curves, independence and strong knowledge of self-worth in the November 2015 issue of Smooches Woman Magazine. Setoria's single, Take A Picture (produced by /Herb Middleton) is featured on the Smooches Woman Music Project CD. The song has become one of the runway anthems for the Smooches Model Movement. You will find articles written by Setoria in 2 of the latest Smooches Magazine issues where she highlight talents in the fashion and music industry.


Her sexy single Spell On Me shows diversity in tone and explores airy and soft melodies with a jazzy-soul twist. The song was released in February 2016 and is also featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie - MUDA: When Time Is All That matters - An international independent feature film from Writer / Director, Prinze Whyee. The award-winning movie was created to highlight awareness to chronic kidney disease. Setoria was cast into the film playing herself as a night club singer. She was also nominated at the 2016 Africa NAFCA (Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards) or "African Oscars" for her contribution to the MUDA movie score.


In September of 2016, Setoria was nominated for R&B Soul Artist of the Year and Spell on Me was nominated for R&B Soul Song of the Year at the 2016 Josie Music Awards. Although the single was not selected as Song of the Year, Setoria took home the award for R&B Soul Artist of the Year at the sold-out show held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee. At the 2017 Josie Music Award show, Setoria was awarded the R&B Artist of the Year award as well as perfomed with her band at the home of the Tennessee Titans - Nissan Stadium.


Her latest single Say My Name debuted in December 2016 and exploded as Setoria take her listeners on a passionate journey of melodic sounds with an added spice of Hip-Hop to remind us of her "around-the-way girl" personality. She was awarded R&B Song of the Year at the 2018 Josie Music Awards for the project. The song's sexy and expressive music video also earned a nomination at the 2019 Philadelphia Independent Film Awards and a win at the 2019 Philadelphia Film Festival for Best Music Video. Her debut EP - Say my Name is scheduled to release under her label imprint - Keytone Entertainment.


Alongside music, modeling, writing and acting, Setoria has explored the world of radio as she served as a co-host to several internet radio shows. She also had the experience of producing her very own show advocating for independent artists in music, film and fashion called the Black Gold Radio Show. While deciding to end the show in the spring of 2017, Setoria continues to support independent artists, business owners, and others who are making a difference in their communities.


The well-rounded vocalist, songwriter and indi-activist cites Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Mahalia Jackson, Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, Prince, Curtis Mayfield, Millie Jackson, Miles Davis, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Jovi, Rick James, Stevie Wonder and Chuck Brown as some of her biggest influences and inspirations. Her expressive lyrics in her music are recognized more as pages to her diary as she share stories of her personal experiences, thoughts, dreams, and nightmares.
